Los Angeles (CNN) -- The key players in the "Fast & Furious" series meet Friday to discuss the future of the movie franchise, star Vin Diesel said.

"We always took pride in trying to make each one better than the last," Diesel said in a post on his verified Facebook fan page late Thursday.

Diesel has used his Facebook page to keep fans updated since co-star Paul Walker died in a high-speed car crash six weeks ago.

"P.s. Tomorrow we meet with the studio, regarding the future of the Fast saga ... and the completion of seven," he said.

Investigators concluded that the car, driven by Walker's friend, was speeding at more than 100 miles per hour when it clipped a light pole and was engulfed in flames, killing both men.

Walker's ex-cop character, Brian O'Conner, was central to five of the first six "Fast & Furious" stories, and his death left the future of the next film in doubt. Millions of dollars are at stake, considering the franchise has sold $2.6 billion in tickets around the world since 2001.

Universal Studios, which was planning to release the franchise's seventh installment this July, announced last month that it would hit theaters on April 10, 2015.

Diesel posted a message and photograph on Facebook two weeks ago that showed the last scene he and Walker filmed together.

"There was a unique sense of completion, of pride we shared ... in the film we were now completing ... the magic captured ... and, in just how far we've come," Diesel wrote.

CNN's Henry Hanks contributed to this report.

Kurt Russell circling 'Fast & Furious 7'?

• Hollywood veteran Kurt Russell is in talks to join the seventh installment of the Fast & Furious franchise in an undisclosed part for director James Wan (The Conjuring). We kind of hope he’ll just be playing Snake Plissken. The famously private actor has been somewhat absent from movies recently. 2007's Death Proof was his last high-profile role. Russell has a few more projects in the works including the Jay Baruchel-starring comedy The Art of the Steal, and Bone Tomahawk, a Western with Peter Sarsgaard and Jennifer Carpenter. [Variety]

Bradley Cooper (Silver Linings Playbook) is set to voice the CG Rocket Raccoon in Guardians of the Galaxy, set for an Aug. 1, 2014 theatrical release. This is Cooper’s first venture into voiceover work. [Marvel]

• Kathleen Turner (The Virgin Suicides) has signed on to join Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels in Dumb and Dumber To, the secretive sequel to their 1994 comedy. Bobby and Peter Farrelly are returning to direct the movie, which is expected to begin shooting soon, aiming for a summer 2014 release. [Variety]

'Shadow Dancer': Belfast and furious

SHADOW-DANCER.jpg Image Credit: Magnolia Pictures

How far would you go to protect your child? Would you betray your beliefs? Your people? Your own family?

That’s the question director James Marsh examines in Shadow Dancer, which stars Andrea Riseborough (Oblivion) as a reluctant Irish terrorist facing 25 years in an English prison if she doesn’t betray her family to MI5. Clive Owen plays her British handler, who presents her with an unthinkable choice if she wants to ever see her young son again.

Owen still has a vivid memory of the Troubles, the decades-old friction between Catholic republicans and Protestant unionists in Northern Ireland that is depicted in the film during a particularly violent spike of violence in the early 1990s. “You look at pictures from that time and Belfast was like a war zone,” Owen told EW last year at Sundance, where the movie premiered. “I just thought the script was politically very interesting because all the characters in the film, to some extent, are kind of trapped in their positions. It’s not about rights and wrongs, and good guys and bad guys. … I think [my character] really believes it when he says to her, ‘We’re in this together. I’m going to be watching your back. You do this and we do it together.’ I think he genuinely believes that, but very quickly the rock is pulled from under him because he realizes she’s very quickly going to be compromised.”

Watch an exclusive clip from the taut thriller, as Owen’s agent explains the rules of the game to his new asset. She wants to know just one thing: his name.

Marsh, who’s best known for his documentaries, notably Project Nim and the Oscar-winning Man on Wire, was inspired by the visual style and suffocating intensity of films like Marnie and Klute. But it was his skills and keen eye as a documentarian that Owen most appreciated. “I’ve been a fan of James’ documentaries and one of the big strengths of this film is James’ choice of locations,” said Owen. “I think it’s one of the great benefits of having a documentary filmmaker make this film because I thought one of the most successful things was how grounded it was and how authentic everything felt.”

Here’s the trailer.

Shadow Dancer is available on demand beginning today and will open theatrically on May 31.
